“She’s climbing, she’s climbing! I got you! Now you’ve made it to the top!”

Harper (4) and Eastyn (11 months) came and visited from Tennessee last week. Eastyn had been trying to climb the stairs in my house for a few days after watching her big sis scale to the top. On the last day, Eastyn finally got it.

But what got me is the excitement in her sister’s voice. “She’s climbing, she’s climbing!” And then when Eastyn made it to the top, Harper was there to pull her up the rest of way, “I got you. Now you’ve made it to the top.”

I couldn’t help but think about my own big sister. She’s been there through all of my largest milestones, both the good ones and the hard ones. She’s helped me scale some of the most difficult challenges in my life. Most recently, she was there during my mastectomy surgery and helped me through my recovery. She has me. She’s always had me and has always been one of my biggest cheerleaders.

We climb mountains better together. We are beating cancer together.

Who are you standing with at the top of your own biggest climbs?
