What does your brave face look like?

Mine looks like fake eyebrows, foundation to give me some color, and mascara on the last of my eye lashes still holding on.

Last week I had a really hard time getting out of bed. My body and heart were just…tired. It’s tough looking in the mirror and seeing a complexion you hardly recognize, a person you didn’t know six months ago. As a single girl, I also don’t have someone to wake up to that tells me I’m still beautiful or wanted.

So I have to choose me. Every morning, I have to choose to put my brave face on and make the decision to get up and show up. To give this life my best, even if it means just getting out of bed that day.

Some days or weeks or seasons are bound to be hard. And we won’t always have someone else to save us. Sometimes we have to be our own cheer team and the hero of our own story.

And when I put on my brave face, I’d bet on that girl every time. Because that brave face has brought me through three surgeries and fourteen rounds of chemo in six months. I’m proud of that face full of grit.

We don’t always get to choose our situation, but we always get to choose how we show up. So no matter what you’re facing this season, get up, show up, and get after it! Choose you. Bet on you. Put your brave face on, and show this life what you’re made of.

Eyebrows are optional💁‍♀️
