When your rawest form is exposed, what do people see?

Do they see weakness or do they see strength?

Do they see anger and resentment or do they see grace and hope?

Do they see your fear or do they see your faith?

My hair was coming out fast from chemo treatment, and I was forced to take a good long look in the mirror as I asked myself these hard questions.

Losing my hair was just a physical representation of everything else that was being stripped away from life at that point. So I had to make a choice on a heart level.

What do I want people to see when they look at me?

I want them to see God. I want YOU to see God.

Not because I am perfect but exactly the opposite. Because I am imperfect. Even when I’m at my weakest, He makes me strong. When life hurts and feels unfair, He realigns my vision to be filled with gratitude and a knowing that every piece of my story can be used for good. When I am scared, He guides my steps forward, calms my heart, and makes me brave.

Luckily for most of us, it doesn’t take losing your hair to chemo to be able to ask ourselves these hard questions.

So when you look in the mirror, what do you see?
