Don’t stop until you’re on the other side of “the middle of the mess.”
We had just come back from a 4th of July camp trip when I started to get super sick. I took this video after my worst night during chemo. I wanted to remember what “the middle of the mess” felt like, looked like.
Heating pad on the bed, medical paperwork on the dresser, two tries worth of ramen I couldn’t stomach, medicine to ease the nausea, garbage can by my bed just in case, my bag I took for chemo treatment, massager to help massage the pain away, a towel on the floor by the toilet where I laid half the night, a bag full of medications to take, a wig to cover my bald head, Biofreeze on the counter to stop the aches, and the towel hung up that was still damp from the 20ish showers I took throughout the night to make it through.
When you’re in the middle of the mess, it’s not pretty. But some of those days, or nights, are just the entrance fee to make it to the other side. Tonight I’m going to bed in a room that looks nothing like that one from a couple months ago and man does that feel good.
If you’re in the middle of a mess, just keep moving, friend. Better nights are ahead, I promise you❤️
