I’ve been thinking a lot about how people fight lately. Not against each other, but for each other. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Grace saves and truth sets us free. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Grace is undeserved forgiveness, kindness, and favor. Undeserved. Unearned. It is a gift without any expectation for something in return.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Truth is speaking hard realities and correction in a gentle, kind, and inoffensive manner. It is used to build us and help us embrace the characteristics of God and his calling for our lives.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have you ever messed up really bad? What helped you get through it and be better from it? Was it the person casting shame who left you? Or was it the person who continued to love you and walk with you? Who helped you the most through that time? I bet it was the one who met you with grace.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
On the flip side, when you messed up really bad, who helped you most to grow from that experience and become a better version of yourself? Was it the person who enabled you to stay as you were, continuing to stay in a place of trouble? Or was it the person who spoke truth into your life who helped you stay accountable for continually taking positive steps forward? I bet it was the person who met you with truth.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If we use nothing but grace, we enable others to continue habits that can harm them and others. If we use all truth, we become self righteous and cause the person to rebel.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Fighting isn’t always bad. Sometimes it is the most loving thing you can do. Sometimes you have to fight with someone using grace and truth in order to fight FOR them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I know there are a lot of battles out there being fought right now. And breast cancer is just one. But the biggest battle will always be on the inside.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Go out and fight for people. Be a warrior.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
