Strong looks different in each season❤️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

A couple weeks into chemo treatment, I went to a furniture store to look for some patio chairs. Ya know, the kind of store that’s in a huge warehouse that seems to go on for miles? That kind of store.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I walked in and an employee immediately offered to help me find what I was looking for. She directed me towards the far back of the store. As I walked with her, all I could think was, “I’m not sure I’m going to be able to make it back.” Even though it was just past the bedroom displays, it felt like she had asked me to walk across the state of Colorado.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Fatigue was so real at that point. I chilled on a couch display for a while, pretending I was trying it out. Really, I just needed to rest because I felt like passing out. It did have comfy cushions though—5 star review for sure⭐️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When we hit the slopes for the first time this last weekend to go snowboarding, I couldn’t help but reflect on those moments of pure exhaustion from just a few months prior. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

That same body that carved down the slopes of the Rocky Mountains this past weekend is the same body that needed to rest in the middle of a furniture store just a few months ago. Our bodies are strong. But strong can look so different amidst each unique season. Not just physically, but mentally, too.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

That same person on top of the mountain is the same one that started at the bottom and had to climb it. Remember that. Even when you’re tired, that doesn’t mean you’re weak. Rest when you need to, but keep moving, friend. You’re just building endurance.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope” (Romans 5:3-4)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
