There are a lot of awkward stages of growth.
Just look at my hair if you need an example!
It wasn’t too long ago that my complexion was completely devoid of eyebrows, eyelashes, and any hair on top of my little bald head. Chemo was ruthless in that way.
But when the smallest hint of an eyelash evolved one day, I ran out of my room to eagerly show Heidi the tiniest of tiny eyelashes that had just started to grow. That ONE little lash seemed like one HUGE milestone. Because you know what it meant? Growth.
Growth takes time. And there are a lot of awkward stages getting to where you want to go. Whether it’s growing your hair out, making your way towards a health milestone, moving up the career ladder, or growing in a new relationship, it takes time to make it to your goals, to develop into the person you want to become.
Give yourself grace as you make it through each stage, knowing that growing isn’t always pretty. Celebrate the small wins along the way because those are what make up the big wins. One day you’re going to look back and see how far you’ve come.
And I hope when you look back, you’ll be as proud of yourself as I am right now of my eyelashes finally be long enough to put mascara on
