I have loved this woman fiercely my entire life.
When I visited her last week for her birthday, she gave me an old photo album. As I flipped through the pictures, I laughed as I saw a sequence of pictures of me as a little girl just pestering her. I was poking her nose, doing her hair, and who knows what else. She made me belly laugh maybe more than anyone else ever has.
She’s also been there through the worst of times. We cried on the phone together as we waited on my final cancer diagnosis. There weren’t many words on that phone call, yet so much was said. She’s always been my safe place.
She’s losing her eyesight quickly, but I see her perfectly and she is beautiful
